This release added some robustness to the program. It will now not only tell you what State an area code is in, but regional information and the local time as well. Thanks to Chuck Sherman for providing all the new information.
When you first run the program, you should set the preferences to indicate your current time zone and if it is Daylight Savings Time. These settings are used to calculate the local time in an area code, and will be saved from session to session.
It is also rather simple to add new area codes, or modify information about existing ones. The information is stored in the "Data" resource, and even has a ResEdit template to make things easier. There are four records per area code: the area code itself, the State it is in, an internal Time Zone code, and the regional information. You can change the information in existing strings, or add new area codes by creating a new record.
There are two things you must keep in mind when modifying the information. 1) You can only have one record per area code. All duplicate records after the first one will be ignored.
2) The regional text that is displayed is limited to about 75 characters on the two lines. Any more than that will be truncated.
This program is freeware and may be freely distributed and used, but may not be sold without my prior consent. This text file must be included in all distributions, and it is illegal to distribute a modified version of this application.
